The Koori Community Alcohol & Drug Resource Centre (KCADRC)
The KCADRC is a service which was developed following the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. The main purpose of the Centre is to provide an alternative to prison and police lock-up situations for Koori men and women who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs when they are picked up by police.
The Centre is staffed by both male and female Koori workers who have experience in providing clients with culturally appropriate support services. The Centre can take up to 6 clients at any time and provides a range of drug and alcohol support services on a 24 hours 7 days a week basis.
The length of stay for our clients varies with the maximum time being 2 days. Where appropriate clients are linked to Koori and mainstream services to ensure they receive the best possible ongoing supports.
Clients are required to undergo a Risk Assessment to determine their suitability to our service.
